Content Marketing for a Cause: Doing Good and Doing Well

golf for autismFor once, I’m not here to talk about content publishing. Instead, I’d like to talk about the sheer kindness of others.

On Monday, August 12, CMI Golf for Autism held its seventh annual event in Elyria, Ohio — the same exact location where the Easter Seals (then called the National Society for Crippled Children) was founded in 1919. The proceeds from this charity event are earmarked specifically for families of children with autism who cannot afford the speech therapy services they need. To date, through the kindness and generosity of our supporters and participants over the past seven years, total donations from Golf for Autism to Easter Seals of Northern Ohio have surpassed the $100,000 mark.

Here are just a few highlights from this year’s event:

  • 128 golfers took part (making it a sold-out event)
  • Over 75 corporate and individual sponsors gave donations
  • To date, CMI Golf for Autism has contributed over $100,000 to the cause

A special thanks goes out to our main corporate sponsors — GIE Media, Petco, Cleveland Steel Container, and Elite Insurance Group — as well as to the countless other volunteers and supporters who make this annual event possible.

Why this cause?

After the event, I was both overwhelmed with emotion and inspired — so inspired that I decided to write this LinkedIn post on why every company, no matter what the size, needs a cause to stand behind. To steal the words of Linda Boff, Executive Director of Global Brand Marketing at General Electric, supporting a cause is “about doing good, but also about doing well.”

If you’d like to learn more about why the Pulizzi family is 100 percent dedicated to ensuring that children with autism receive the speech therapy services they need to live fulfilling lives, I invite you to read the LinkedIn post. If it inspires you, I urge you to pass it on.
